Hitachi Solutions is committed to Carbon Neutrality at all our sites by 2030 and we are working to achieve Net Zero across our value chain by 2050. Our carbon footprint is validated externally, and we are working on a science-based reduction plan. Our environmental management system is compliant with ISO14001.

Our carbon-neutral projects

As a company we aim to deliver various carbon-neutral projects. This requires working in partnership with our customers to minimise our impact during the execution of these projects from beginning to end. We are making it a priority from the outset to forecast our programme emissions and establish a baseline, allowing us to set ambitious project emissions goals. We will also embed sustainable practices into our project delivery which will further help us to reduce our environmental impact.

To offset any remaining emissions, we will invest in ‘Verified Carbon’ standard projects. These projects focus on carbon removal, not just carbon avoidance, which is has higher credibility. Our company values our environmental impact and is dedicated to sustainability. We work closely with our customers to achieve carbon neutrality by sharing insights and addressing risks collaboratively. Together, we strive to align our goals and make a positive difference.

Sustainable Solutions

At Hitachi Solutions, we prioritise sustainable solutions by aligning our approach with key initiatives such as the Greening Government Commitments and the GDS Technology Code of Practice. This ensures that our delivery not only meets user needs but also contributes to long-term environmental goals. Similarly, our consultants, both technical and delivery-focused, have undergone comprehensive green coding training to understand the principles of sustainable software delivery and are certified with the Green Software Foundation’s Green Software for Practitioners exam.

Furthermore, our team follows the “Well Architected Framework” approach that incorporates lean, user centric design methodology. With effective user research, we help deliver process and resource efficiency and ensure this is implemented as an integral part of our solutions.

All our solutions are also delivered using the Microsoft cloud, which has strong sustainability standards including the pledge to use 100% renewable energy by 2025. Furthermore, our focus on user centred design helps ensure that our solutions support efficient and lean business processes that deliver automation and improve productivity.

We work closely with our customers to ensure that our sustainability policy meets their business requirements. We also encourage working remotely where possible and minimising travel when necessary. And we ensure transparency by providing a comprehensive report on all our sustainability-related activities and performance against targets.

At Hitachi Solutions, sustainability is fundamental to our mission. It’s imperative for us to align with the environmental goals of both our company and our clients. How we work, the solutions we deliver and the impact that they will have will help us achieve those ambitions.
