Financial Services and Mental Health TechSprint

On 14-15 March 2017, the One Hitachi family joined the FCA TechSprint in partnership with PwC and the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute. The theme was mental health.

The FCA holds a regular series of these sprints, encouraging organisations to work collaboratively on shared challenges, solving important problems in financial services.

Research by The Money and Mental Health Policy Institute recently found that people with mental health problems are as much as three times more likely to be in financial difficulty.

The two-day event bought our Hitachi family together with over 35 organisations including Burges Salmon, Eclipse-Experience, iProve and Bristol Pound. We worked together to develop technology tools and concepts that might help break the link between financial difficulty and mental health problems.

A great time was had by all, across both days of the TechSprint. As well as being challenged with getting creative, we presented our solutions to an audience of senior representatives from financial services firms, consultancies, FinTech companies and mental health experts.

Although a cross-industry judging panel will assess how effective and innovative our ideas were, the real value of the TechSprint lies in learning about such a great cause and working with esteemed company.

We’d like to thank the FCA, PWC and Money and Mental health for organising a hugely successful event, and are honoured to have been given the opportunity to supports the FCA’s commitment to help consumers in vulnerable circumstances.
